Anti-Inflammatory Turmeric Ginger Energy Balls

January 14, 2018 by Tisha 1 Comment

Anti-Inflammatory Turmeric Ginger Energy Balls {vegan, paleo, keto}

Oh baby, how good do these Anti-Inflammatory Turmeric Ginger Energy Balls look? Let me tell you: they are so addictive. Spicy from the turmeric and ginger, tangy from the lemon, and just a hint of sweetness from the honey. Hell yeah, these are delightful.

With cold season dragging on, I’ve been drinking turmeric + ginger tea almost every day. And then it hit me: I need an immune-boosting, anti-inflammatory snack. And voila.   My favourite part about these is that they’re date free, which helps to bring down the sugar content. If you want to make them low-carb, simply omit the honey, and add a bit of stevia drops instead. Or coconut butter–that could be good too.

I have a feeling these will be key for prevent colds and flus over the next few weeks, so if you’re looking to support your immune system, I highly recommend you try these!

Nutritional Highlights

Turmeric

Turmeric is highly anti-inflammatory, so it helps to decrease inflammation and consequently, prevent pathogenic bacteria from invading the body. Turmeric is linked to better brain function, and a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, cancer, and even aging. So of course we had to throw into these energy balls!

Ginger

Ginger has been shown to reduce nausea, improve digestion, fight off infection, and improve memory.

Lemon

Lemons are a good source of vitamin C, which is needed to boost the immune system, improve skin quality, and increase the uptake of collagen.

Hemp seeds

These small seeds are packed with protein, fibre and essential fatty acids, making them a great gut-friendly ingredient.

Raw unpasteurized honey

Raw honey contains anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, making it great addition to prevent illness. It’s also soothing for sore throats, and acts as a cough suppressant.

KETO OPTION: Make these keto-friendly by substituting the raw honey with 1/2 tsp stevia drops.

Dairy & hormones—friend or foe? There’s a lo Dairy & hormones—friend or foe?

There’s a lot of mixed info out there, but here’s the truth:

❌ Dairy doesn’t *always* mess with hormones.

✅ Some people are sensitive to it, while others digest it just fine.

✅ Full-fat dairy (like yogurt) has probiotics, calcium & vitamin D—which can actually help PMS!

The key? Listen to your body. If dairy triggers symptoms like bloating or cramps, you might want to try temporarily cutting it out to see how you feel.

But if you’ve been told you need to cut out dairy for your hormone health, just know there’s a lot of benefits to incorporating it into your diet! #hormonehealth #integrativenutrition #periodproblems

Endometriosis affects about 10% of women and people assigned female at birth worldwide, and is one of the most common causes of pelvic pain for women of reproductive age.

While we still need more research in this area, some foods might be helpful in lowering inflammation, getting rid of extra estrogen and avoiding the triggers that make endometriosis symptoms worse.

✨Did you know?✨

There’s a link between IBS and endometriosis: they often co-exist together. If you struggle with symptoms like bloating or stomach pain, it might be worth checking for food intolerances, celiac disease or IBS.
