Autumn Musings

October 13, 2015 by Tisha Leave a Comment

Fall is easily my favourite season of the year. I think it’s most people’s favourites–and for good reason. I think we have a lot to be excited about: cooler weather, reuniting with friends (at school) or family (during the holidays). We’re more engaged with our community: going for walks in the park, grabbing hot chocolate

White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies

October 10, 2015 by Tisha Leave a Comment

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!When I think about Thanksgiving, I have a very specific idea of what that means to me: my mom’s apple turnip casserole, the juicy slow cooked ham, my step-dad’s stuffing that everyone raves about (even though I can’t eat it), my whole family crammed around the table poking fun at one another. No wait,

Life Update

September 5, 2015 by Tisha Leave a Comment

Hello, hello everyone! The last few weeks have been absolutely chaotic, and I haven’t had a chance to write any new blog posts. Allie, Poe and I were all set to move to our new Toronto apartment–every item on the list had a check mark, every box was labelled, everything was a go–when the night

5 Tips to Start the Day With a Smile on Your Face

August 22, 2015 by Tisha Leave a Comment

Unless we’re talking about weekend sleep-ins, mornings are often a dreaded experience for all: we have to wake up early (sometimes when it’s still dark), we’re being rushed out the door, and we’re not yet caffeinated. A rushed morning can also mean a stressful day. This makes you grumpy—which in turn makes the people around

4 Ways To Show Your Body Self-Love

August 12, 2015 by Tisha Leave a Comment

These last few weeks have been so hectic–I haven’t been able to post as much as I’d like, because I’m getting ready to move. To a new city. To do culinary arts. It’s insane. I’m so excited! Our apartment is covered in boxes and chaos, I just got back from viewing our new (super lovely)

Living in Season: My Experience with a CSA

July 25, 2015 by Tisha Leave a Comment

Hello, hello! It looks like it’s going to be a rainy weekend here in Kingston–but to be honest, I kind of look forward to those grey overcast days; I always feel inspired to create, to read, to cook, to cozy up. You know? Today will be a short post! I thought I’d share my experience

Back to Basics: Strawberry Picking

July 12, 2015 by Tisha Leave a Comment

When I was a young teenager, my dad used to live on a small piece of property in the country. His backyard was filled with wild raspberries, a blackberry bush, rhubarb, his vegetable garden and a few trees that held plums, chestnuts and crab apples. On the weekends he’d urge us to go outside and

Summer Solstice & Strawberry-Rhubarb Crisp

June 23, 2015 by Tisha Leave a Comment

Can you believe summer is finally here? Yesterday was the first day of summer (and of course, Father’s Day!) and it has me already daydreaming of warm, breezy nights, drinks on the patio and walks to the farmer’s market. Poe must be feeling it too: every time we open the door, out she goes–indoor cat

Holistic Ways To Fight The Common Cold

June 9, 2015 by Tisha Leave a Comment

It finally happened. I played with fire–I bragged about how great my immune system was. I tested the fates. And now I’m sick. With the common cold. Okay, there’s a chance I’m being dramatic. After all, the average healthy person catches a cold twice a year, so really, I’m right on track. But sometimes

Stay Hydrated This Summer!

June 2, 2015 by Tisha Leave a Comment

Summer is almost here, can you feel it? I know I can: I’ve started to sweat like a little piglet, my cat has taken to meowing at the fan in terror when I turn it on at night and it’s no longer acceptable for me to wear my favourite winter beanie (I still do). Of course,

Dairy & hormones—friend or foe? There’s a lo Dairy & hormones—friend or foe?

There’s a lot of mixed info out there, but here’s the truth:

❌ Dairy doesn’t *always* mess with hormones.

✅ Some people are sensitive to it, while others digest it just fine.

✅ Full-fat dairy (like yogurt) has probiotics, calcium & vitamin D—which can actually help PMS!

The key? Listen to your body. If dairy triggers symptoms like bloating or cramps, you might want to try temporarily cutting it out to see how you feel.

But if you’ve been told you need to cut out dairy for your hormone health, just know there’s a lot of benefits to incorporating it into your diet! #hormonehealth #integrativenutrition #periodproblems

Endometriosis affects about 10% of women and people assigned female at birth worldwide, and is one of the most common causes of pelvic pain for women of reproductive age.

While we still need more research in this area, some foods might be helpful in lowering inflammation, getting rid of extra estrogen and avoiding the triggers that make endometriosis symptoms worse.

✨Did you know?✨

There’s a link between IBS and endometriosis: they often co-exist together. If you struggle with symptoms like bloating or stomach pain, it might be worth checking for food intolerances, celiac disease or IBS.
