Chocolate Maca Zucchini Muffins

August 10, 2017 by Tisha 2 Comments

Chocolate Maca Zucchini Muffins Holy moly. You need to eat these. Okay, true, I say this a lot. But I mean it a lot. And trust me, you will not regret making these. They are ooey-gooey chocolate-y goodness. I love baking with almond flour, because, when done right, you can’t even tell it’s gluten free. None of

Paleo Raspberry Chia Jam Thumbprint Cookies

July 30, 2017 by Tisha Leave a Comment

Last weekend, we went raspberry picking. The berries were so ripe we had to bag the little carton because the bottom berries were getting crushed and staining everything it touched red. Not wanting them to go to waste, I made a raspberry chia jam. Delicious.  Chia jams are my favourite way to have jam. For one, it’s

Dose of nature: raspberry picking

July 24, 2017 by Tisha 1 Comment

I thought I’d share something a little different today–a new series maybe? Something where I can share simple experiences revolved around nature, and getting out. There’s something so calming about looking at trees, and plants, and greenish things, you know? I hope you enjoy! Dose of Nature This past weekend Allie had a work barbeque

Baby Kale, Potato + Pancetta Breakfast Hash

July 15, 2017 by Tisha 2 Comments

I have fallen in love with lazy weekend mornings. For years–as a student, and as a worker bee in the restaurant industry–I have worked weekends: early mornings and late nights. Saturdays felt more like Thursdays, hustling and bustling to get things done.  It’s only now that I’ve really been able to experience the loveliness of

Blueberry, Blackberry + Peach Skillet Crisp

July 1, 2017 by Tisha 2 Comments

Happy Canada Day!  Hope you’re all ready to don your red + white today. Every year I realize I don’t own red and white, and so every year I scramble to come up with something that looks Canadian-ish. Mostly, that ends up meaning I wear a white shirt, and then later that evening accidentally spill

Poached Eggs + Tomato Feta Salad

June 20, 2017 by Tisha Leave a Comment

Can you believe the warm weather we’ve been having? It actually feels like summer. After a good 20 minutes outside, I got my first baby sunburn of the year, so back to the shadows I retreated. Still, it’s been gorgeous: the air smells floral, my neighbourhood is bright and green after all the weeks of

A New Stage In My Life + 5 Ways I’m Making Time For Myself Everyday

May 31, 2017 by Tisha 3 Comments

The End of School + a new stage in my life  For the last two years, as I raced around the culinary labs cooking risotto and deboning chickens, I feverishly thought of what my next steps would be after finishing school. Initially, I had wanted to learn how to cook to add

My First Print Publication! (+ my real thoughts about culinary school)

April 22, 2017 by Tisha Leave a Comment

Okay, first things first: I have finally finished my two years at George Brown for Culinary Nutrition! Let me tell ya: it feels pretty freakin’ good. I took off my chef whites for the last time, and felt my whole body sigh. Cause I did it. And now it’s over. So, what did I think of my

How To Lower Your Stress + Boost Creativity

March 18, 2017 by Tisha 4 Comments

Why are we so stressed out? As a kid, I was quite the creative weirdo. I wrote short stories (about fairies), performed concerts for my family (to the musical stylings of Shania Twain + Aqua), and created backstories and profiles for all my toys–most notably some water balloons with drawn on smiley faces that lived

Blood Orange Vanilla Chia Pudding

March 4, 2017 by Tisha 2 Comments

Chia pudding is one of those foods that I go through phases where I’m obsessed with it, and then I can’t eat it again for months. I think because I love hot, hot breakfasts, that I really have to be craving the delicateness of chia pudding. It’s so light and cool and fresh. And also,

Dairy & hormones—friend or foe? There’s a lo Dairy & hormones—friend or foe?

There’s a lot of mixed info out there, but here’s the truth:

❌ Dairy doesn’t *always* mess with hormones.

✅ Some people are sensitive to it, while others digest it just fine.

✅ Full-fat dairy (like yogurt) has probiotics, calcium & vitamin D—which can actually help PMS!

The key? Listen to your body. If dairy triggers symptoms like bloating or cramps, you might want to try temporarily cutting it out to see how you feel.

But if you’ve been told you need to cut out dairy for your hormone health, just know there’s a lot of benefits to incorporating it into your diet! #hormonehealth #integrativenutrition #periodproblems

Endometriosis affects about 10% of women and people assigned female at birth worldwide, and is one of the most common causes of pelvic pain for women of reproductive age.

While we still need more research in this area, some foods might be helpful in lowering inflammation, getting rid of extra estrogen and avoiding the triggers that make endometriosis symptoms worse.

✨Did you know?✨

There’s a link between IBS and endometriosis: they often co-exist together. If you struggle with symptoms like bloating or stomach pain, it might be worth checking for food intolerances, celiac disease or IBS.
