August 25, 2018 by Tisha Leave a Comment

Where Have I Been?! You may have noticed I’ve been a little (or a lot) absent from the blog. Or, maybe you didn’t notice at all. (Maybe you actually could not care one bit, and you really just showed up for these waffles. No worries, scroll down man.) Well I’ve been busy with a little

Sexual Fluidity: It’s Not Just Gay and Straight

July 21, 2018 by Tisha Leave a Comment

Alright, we’re switching it up here on the blog today. I say ‘we’ as though I have a whole team behind the screen with me, when in fact, it is only me (with the occasional keyboard lick from my dog). It has been a long-time goal of mine to branch out into more LGBT topics

Oven-Baked Paprika Rutabaga Fries

July 15, 2018 by Tisha 1 Comment

It feels very, very hot outside. And humid. It’s sticky and gross and any sane person would not have picked today to crank their oven to 400F and make fries. But here we are. On the absolute plus side: these Oven Baked Paprika Rutabaga Fries are so worth it. Literally, there is sweat running down my temple

Paleo vs Keto: Which One Is Healthier?

July 1, 2018 by Tisha Leave a Comment

It feels like everyone I know is on a ketogenic diet. I get it: we’re seeing the crazy weight loss results all over our social feed. And, if they’re not on a ketogenic diet, they’re probably playing with the ever popular Whole 30: a 30 day paleo-inspired weight loss program. Again: I’ve seen lots of

Grain-Free Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp {paleo + vegan}

June 24, 2018 by Tisha Leave a Comment

I’ve finally done it: after many, many attempts at making this dessert over the past few years, I think I’ve finally nailed this Grain-free Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp. Seriously: it’s not too sweet, the filling is juicy and tender, the top is golden and crisp. Now I love me a good crumble, and I’ve made many over

Blueberry Mint Gin Fizz + Happy Pride Month!

June 3, 2018 by Tisha Leave a Comment

IT’S JUNE. As in summer. As in cocktails on the patio all day, every day. (Kind of kidding–I’m a little tipsy now from, ahem, taste testing.) It’s also PRIDE month! And I am freakin’ pumped. I actually love being queer, and I’ll find a way to drop it into conversation every chance that I get.

4 Medicinal Mushrooms + Their Magical Health Benefits

May 26, 2018 by Tisha Leave a Comment

It seems to me that medicinal mushrooms are everywhere. You can find them in health food stores, coffee, chocolate, protein balls and almost any healthy foodie blog. But what are they?! What’s the deal. What are the health benefits of medicinal mushrooms? Medicinal mushrooms, like chaga and reishi, are adaptogens–meaning they help your body to adapt to

Cherry Almond Overnight Oats {vegan}

May 20, 2018 by Tisha Leave a Comment

For the most part, I follow a generally paleo diet. As much as possible I try to make sure my diet is made of plants like leafy greens and root vegetables, clean proteins (like sustainably sourced fish, pastured eggs, and grass-fed beef) and healthy fats like ghee, olive oil, coconut oil and avocados. Most of

Should You Avoid Dairy?

May 13, 2018 by Tisha Leave a Comment

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you momma bears (and pet mamas) out there! Today, I’m writing about something that I’ve personally been grappling with myself. My Struggle With Dairy. A bit of backstory for you: for the last few months, I’ve been dealing with some unexpected (and not-so-delightful symptoms). I’m talking bloating, stomach pain,

Dairy & hormones—friend or foe? There’s a lo Dairy & hormones—friend or foe?

There’s a lot of mixed info out there, but here’s the truth:

❌ Dairy doesn’t *always* mess with hormones.

✅ Some people are sensitive to it, while others digest it just fine.

✅ Full-fat dairy (like yogurt) has probiotics, calcium & vitamin D—which can actually help PMS!

The key? Listen to your body. If dairy triggers symptoms like bloating or cramps, you might want to try temporarily cutting it out to see how you feel.

But if you’ve been told you need to cut out dairy for your hormone health, just know there’s a lot of benefits to incorporating it into your diet! #hormonehealth #integrativenutrition #periodproblems

Endometriosis affects about 10% of women and people assigned female at birth worldwide, and is one of the most common causes of pelvic pain for women of reproductive age.

While we still need more research in this area, some foods might be helpful in lowering inflammation, getting rid of extra estrogen and avoiding the triggers that make endometriosis symptoms worse.

✨Did you know?✨

There’s a link between IBS and endometriosis: they often co-exist together. If you struggle with symptoms like bloating or stomach pain, it might be worth checking for food intolerances, celiac disease or IBS.
