In this week’s episode, we are diving into a pretty heavy topic: we’re looking at how gender bias shows up in health care. This topic is so important to me, as a woman and as a nutritionist.
I have seen time and time again how women, trans people and gender non-conforming individuals are often neglected in the health and wellness space. Gender bias in health shows up in so many ways:
- not feeling heard when you talk with healthcare practitioners
- not being educated on your anatomy
- having your symptoms be dismissed as hormonal or psychosomatic
- not being represented in research studies
