I thought I’d share something a little different today–a new series maybe? Something where I can share simple experiences revolved around nature, and getting out. There’s something so calming about looking at trees, and plants, and greenish things, you know? I hope you enjoy!
Dose of Nature
This past weekend Allie had a work barbeque at a local farm, and naturally, I made sure to bring my camera. It was a beautiful day: complete overcast, the threat of rain, and then, the actual rain. Those are my favourite days. Perfect lighting for taking pictures, perfect sun exposure for pasty pale ladies like myself. And all the rain lately has caused everything around us to be vibrantly green.
As it turns out, there are still raspberries left for picking. They were incredibly ripe, and the dirt below was bright red with berries that had dropped off, to be consumed by ants or stepped on by the small feet of eager children trying to move in closer and pick the juiciest berry. You can see above, they were beautiful. Soft and delicate. Our hands became quite red from the juices trickling out as we plucked them off the bush.
When you live in a city, sometimes you forget how amazing it is to just see greenery and flowers. Or, because it was a farm, friendly faces like the ones below.
There was also a donkey, some ducks and a few sheep–most of whom were lazing around, snacking on grass. Only the goats wanted their pictures taken. Thankfully, they were very photogenic and knew all the most flattering angles.
I felt compelled to share this, because while this blog focuses heavily around food, I can’t stress enough that we stress enough! So we really need to make space in our lives for things that calm us, things that bring us joy. Move away from activities and habits that stress us out and cause us anxiety. After all, this blog is called The Nourished Mind, because I truly, truly believe that mindfulness and stress management are essential for feeling our best!
I hope you all find a way to honour your creative spirit + find calm in your day.
